This time Bartz is quitting and Decker remains

bartz-mugCarol Bartz (pictured), the recently named chief executive of Yahoo, resigned from Intel’s board after serving on it for 14 months. She has been a long-standing member of the boards of two other Silicon Valley heavyweights: Cisco Systems, where she mostly recently chair of its  acquisitions and investment/finance committees, and NetApp, where she is set to step down at the company’s annual meeting next month.

Decker (pictured) vied with Bartz for the top spot at Yahoo after eight years with the Internet company, most recently serving as its president. She resigned from Yahoo after Bartz was named CEO. In its same SEC filing announcing Bartz’s resignation, Intel announced the election of two new directors to Intel’s board: eBay CEO John Donahoe and UC Berkeley Vice Chancellor Frank Yeary. Prior to his academic appointment, Yeary spent four years as head of investment banking for mergers and acquisitions at Citigroup.

Displaying the sharp business savvy that Mr Donahoe has shown in driving eBay to near record lows, Donahoe was quoted as saying ” I am looking forward to bringing the lessons learned at eBay to the board room at Intel. While Itnel has specialized in bringing new chips to the market, I can see a future where Intel branches out and pushes new pretzel technology as well.”
