Apple’s iTunes now sells HD films for Macs and PCs

Apple iTunes is (partly) unplugging high definition from Apple TV.
The Cupertino company announced today that it’s now offering such HD movies as “Quantum of Solace” and “Twilight” for sales and rental that can be played on your Mac or PC, as well as Apple TV.
Movies sell for $19.99 each, and rentals are available within 30 days of their release for $4.99.
As Appleinsider, notes: “The shift signals a reduced dependence on the Apple TV as a driver for Apple’s HD efforts. When given its well-known Take 2 firmware upgrade in early 2008, the device was at the time the only location for any non-podcast HD content from Apple until TV shows were made available in September.”
Some of the other titles that can be purchased and downloaded include “Transporter 3” and “Punisher: War Zone. ”  The action/comedy “The Spirit” will be available on April 14.
