Netgear latest company to cut executive salaries
Netgear became the latest Silicon Valley public company to announce it will cut salaries for its executives. On Tuesday, the company’s board of directors approved a “temporary 10% reduction in the annual base salaries of all full time senior managers at the vice president level or above including the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer and other Named Executive Officers,” according to a filing the company made Thursday.
News of the pay cuts was filed the same day the company posted a loss of $7.7 million, or 22 cents per share, for its 2008 quarter, down from net income of $12.5 million, or 35 cents per share, in the same period a year earlier.
The same day, executives at Applied Materials were handed their second 10 percent pay cut in the last six months.
