SciClone CFO to resign at end of month
SciClone Pharmaceucticals said that Chief Financial Officer Richard Waldron “has communicated his resignation” to the company. No word on how that was done: text message, fax, by phone, in person or message in a bottle.
Waldron is taking the step “in order to pursue another professional opportunity.” Guess that rules out mid-life crisis as an explanation for the 54-year-old’s departure.
“The experience that Richard has brought to SciClone has been important to the Company and he has been instrumental in many of our efforts over the past several years” stated SciClone Chief Executive Friedhelm Blobel in the press release announcing the news. No word on which particular efforts he was instrumental in.
Waldron, who has been with the company since 2001, will remain a consultant to the company “for at least one year.” I smell options vesting and the hope of better days to come for SciClone shares, which closed Friday at $2, about half of their average price while Waldron has been CFO.
