“The Googles of the world, they are the Custer of the modern world. We are the Sioux nation. They will lose this war if they go to war. The notion that the new kids on the block have taken over is a false notion.”

Time Warner CEO Richard Parsons on copyright tussles. And just how did that work out for the Sioux, Dick?

The Sioux won the battle but lost the war and are currently stuck on some pretty marginal land in the west that was basically what the Anglos thought was worthless.

The Sioux didn’t call themselves “Sioux.” The Crow called them “Sioux” which meant “enemy” in the Crow language.

It amuses me to translate the above into “We are the enemy nation.” It seems so … appropriate.

Oh, I don’t know if they lost the war; it just took a while to find an appropriate vulnerability of the white man, and I’d say they’re doing a pretty good job at it.

    Anyone for slots?

One has to wonder at the savvy of a site that requires you to have scripting enabled to view page two. Especially when the print friendly displays no ads and lets you read it all in one gulp. Just like most people prefer.

This is a lesson that needs to be learned. People will help you make money, if you are willing to give them what they want. Only sociopaths think that everyone is a thief. It’s a corollary of G.B. Shaw’s famous comment on liars.

  • growing up in the sixties media was on a short-lease…three tv networks, a daily newspaper, couple of radio stations…a Public library, and maybe one bookstore where books were quite expensive…then a few openings came about to the average person…FM Radio stations on a college campus, underground newspapers, short-wave radio, and of course the revolution that was the paperback book…NOW on the Net we bloggers are quite free…the books are now unchained…and all the lawyers in the world will never control information again…sooo to all those who do not get it…stop looking out your door for the afternoon paper…it “ain’t coming” no more…LOL…
