First launched in July of 1996, Good Morning Silicon Valley is one of the longest running technology Web logs around. Written by John Murrell, it looks askance at the technology news of the day with an authoritative eye and irreverent wit.

John Murrell began his journalism career in 1973, working as a reporter and editor at the Duluth News Tribune before moving to the National/Foreign Desk of the Mercury News in 1986. He was part of the working group that started planning Mercury Center, the pioneering online news site, in 1991, and was its first online editor at launch in 1993. From 1994 to 2000, he blogged as the Minister of Information. He joined the Mercury Center spinoff site SiliconValley.com in 2000 and started editing and contributing to GMSV a few years later.
