SOFTWARE PIRACY ALONE MOVES THE WHEELS OF HISTORY!

I guess Windows Genuine Advantage, Microsoft’s worldwide anti-piracy initiative, isn’t quite as worldwide as Microsoft had hoped. In Bucharest, Romania, for the opening of Microsoft’s newest Global Technology Support Center, company Chairman Bill Gates was treated to a tribute to software piracy delivered by Romanian President Traian Basescu. “Piracy helped the young generation discover computers. It set off the development of the IT industry in Romania,” Basescu said during a joint news conference with Gates. “It helped Romanians improve their creative capacity in the IT industry, which has become famous around the world. … Ten years ago, it was an investment in Romania’s friendship with Microsoft and with Bill Gates.”

Gates, as Reuters duly notes, declined comment.

This country of which you speak – Romania – would this not be the famous Elbonia which is well known to PHBs and assorted Dilbertian IT-cubicle dwellers?

  • Piracy though it is wrong, is so widespread i don’t think it can be stopped.

    I have a website at http://piracyalternatives.org

Where I just try to promote alternatives.
